Inside the city walls and out through Wincheap, Northgate and St Dunstan’s, the streets are narrow, the parking is restricted and a lot of properties have no frontage at all. Getting a ladder to the back of a townhouse often means going through the house or down a shared alley.
We work entirely from the ground with a water-fed pole, which reaches further back than a ladder allows. That takes most of the access problem out of it, and on period property it means nothing rests against original glazing bars, painted timber or old brickwork.

Ordinary tap water carries dissolved minerals, and when it dries on glass it leaves those minerals behind. That’s what spotting and streaking actually is. Purified water has had them filtered out, so it dries clear without needing to be squeegeed or buffed.
That suits older glass particularly well. Period panes are rarely perfectly flat, so any residue left behind shows up as streaking in the light. Cleaning with pure water and letting it dry avoids it entirely.
The frames and sills are done as standard, which on a sash window means the glazing bars and horns rather than just the flat surfaces. No detergents, so nothing running off onto painted timber.
In the city itself it’s mostly dust, pollen and the tree cover along the older streets. Six to eight weeks tends to be plenty.
Out at Whitstable, Tankerton and Herne Bay it’s salt. Sea air leaves a fine deposit that hazes glass faster than anything inland, and it’s noticeably worse on anything facing the water. Coastal properties usually want a four-weekly round to stay consistently clear.
Most customers start with a one-off and move onto a round once they’ve seen the difference. There’s no contract and no obligation to continue.
For landlords and letting agents, the summer void is the sensible slot. Windows done between tenancies means the property shows well in listing photographs and there’s nothing on the check-in report about external condition. We work with a number of agents on exactly that basis.
