Road film is a fine, greasy deposit that ordinary rain doesn’t shift. It builds up on anything facing a main route, and it dulls glass long before it looks properly dirty. Most people notice it as a haze in low winter sun rather than as visible grime.
It’s also the reason a lot of Dartford customers find their windows going off quicker than they expect. Properties along the A2 corridor, around the crossing approach and on the Ebbsfleet side generally want doing more often than a house out in the villages would.
Everything is cleaned from ground level using a water-fed pole, so no ladders go against your property.
Ordinary tap water carries dissolved minerals, and when it dries on glass it leaves those minerals behind. That’s what spotting and streaking actually is. Purified water has had them filtered out, so it dries clear without needing to be squeegeed or buffed.
It also works better on road film than a squeegee does. Traffic deposit is greasy rather than gritty, so it smears when it’s dragged across the glass. The brush lifts it, and the pure water rinse carries it away rather than redistributing it.
What that means in practice:
Position matters more here than property type. Anything facing the A2, the A226 or the crossing approach picks up film fast enough that four weeks keeps it consistently clean.
The post-war estates at Temple Hill, Joyce Green and Princes sit further back and generally hold up for six.
Out at Wilmington, Sutton-at-Hone, Horton Kirby, Farningham and Eynsford it’s quieter air, less film and more conventional dust and rain spotting. Eight weeks is often plenty.
Most customers start with a one-off and move onto a round once they’ve seen the difference. There’s no contract and no obligation to continue.
The newer developments at Ebbsfleet, Stone and Greenhithe have a lot of large glazed elevations and bifolds, which show every mark and look worse for being half done. They’re included as standard rather than priced as an extra.
Commercial glazing is worth mentioning too. There’s a good deal of retail and office frontage around Dartford, and a dirty shopfront is the first thing a customer sees.
