We can professionally clean your solar panels, extending the longevity of the panels and maximising your savings.
However, if your panels are covered in grime and bird droppings, they won’t be able to operate at their peak performance level.
By having our team professionally clean your solar panels on a regular basis, you can extend the longevity of the panels and maximise your savings.
Solar Panel Cleaning
When cleaning solar panels it is crucial to use materials and methods that won't damage the panels or their coatings.
We only ever use soft sponges, brushes or microfibre cloths with a gentle cleaning solution. We will never use any abrasive materials, harsh chemicals or high-pressure water that could cause scratches on your panels.
Safety matters as much as method. The Kent External Cleaning team are fully trained and insured, which means that when we’re working at height, such as on your roof, you can rest assured that we’re covered if an accident ever happens.
In general we recommend cleaning your solar panels once or twice a year. Many people choose a spring clean and an autumn refresh.
That said, the right frequency depends on a few factors: the amount of dirt and dust in your area, the angle the panels are set at, and how much rainfall there has been.
Most solar panels come with monitoring equipment, so if you notice a significant drop in energy production, that’s usually the sign that we need to come out more regularly.
It isn't only the tiles that benefit from a regular clean.
It prevents water damage. A clean roof allows rainwater to flow freely towards your gutters. If water gets caught up and pools around moss or algae growth, it can seep into your property and cause expensive water damage. A leaking roof can also cause rotting, which attracts rodents, and moisture inside the property leads to damp and mould growth.
It preserves your gutters. A roof covered in leaves and dirt leads to a gutter filled with leaves and dirt. When rainwater washes over the roof it pushes all that debris from the tiles into the gutters, which then clog or get damaged.
It enhances the appearance of your property. A streaked and dirty roof greatly reduces how the whole property looks. If you’re planning on selling, potential buyers will be put off. Keeping the roof clean outwardly demonstrates that you take care of the building.
It saves you money. A clean roof helps keep repair costs down. By ridding the roof of green build-up and dirt we increase the longevity of the tiles, and we’ll let you know if any need replacing before they cause expensive damage.

First thing in the morning or late afternoon, when the sun is less intense. Cleaning at midday, when the panels are hot, dries the solution too quickly and can leave streaks or residue.

We wouldn't recommend it unless you're a professional. Getting onto a roof is dangerous and time-consuming, particularly if you have a lot of panels. Hiring us saves you the time and keeps you off the roof.
