The commuter belt around Dartford, Stone and Greenhithe turns over quickly. A lot of tenants are here for the trains rather than the town, which means shorter tenancies, more frequent voids and a constant stream of check-outs. Landlords and agents in this patch generally want a property cleaned and relet inside a fortnight, not a month.
The newer developments at Ebbsfleet and Greenhithe are mostly apartments and modern houses, which clean quickly but show every mark on light-coloured render and large glazed elevations. There’s a difference between a property that looks tidy and one that passes an inventory check. The second means inside the appliances, behind them, and all the places a weekly clean skips.
Limescale is worth a mention round here. The water in north Kent is hard, and shower screens, taps and kettle areas in a property that’s been let a couple of years usually need more than a wipe over.

A green patio, a mossy driveway and hazy windows all end up in the check-out report, and none of them get touched by a standard end of tenancy clean.
Windows are the one that catches Dartford properties out. Traffic film off the A2 and the crossing approach is greasy rather than gritty, so it dulls the glass without looking obviously dirty. In a listing photograph it reads as a grubby property even when everything inside is spotless.
